Types of Nail Fashion
When it comes to nails there are four ways you could go; and I am going to give a little input on all of them in this post.
Most simply you could go totally polish-less and just keep up on your nails by using oils, files, and clippers.
Then you have regular nail polish such as this China Glaze polish. If you want the most out of this you must wear a base and top coat polish along with it. This will last about a week if up-kept well. For me it last that long at max. But either way it WILL chip by week two. This is good for people that like to change their color often and don't mind a grungy-chipped look. This requires some time and maintenance. $6
The step-up from this would be Gel / Shellac Nail polish. This is a lot thicker than normal polish. It really is a gel that hardens under specialty UV light. This cost extra to have done in a salon. The one in this picture you can get at Ulta for $10. I got this with the light and everything, but didn't have the best of luck or patience when I tried it. So I can't give an accurate review on this polish yet. But the shellac we have at my esthetics school is SO GOOD! Perfect for people that don't have much time to do their nails and also good for nail-biters to stop their habit. Lasts about two weeks or more.
Last we have Fake or Acrylic Nails. This is where a hard, fake nail is placed over the natural one. This is ONLY done by a professional for best results. Usually costing from $40-$100. This is fun for people that have super-short nails that want them instantly longer. These stay on for more close to a month or longer if you keep-up with them. It's easy to get more designs and for nails to look most professional or stylish. But, of course, these hurt A LOT when bent back or removed.
